Canobi Agtech AFTEA 2022

Canobi Participated in AFTEA as Member of Canadian Delegation

In October of 2022, Canobi travelled to Singapore to participate in the inaugural Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia (AFTEA). The event was part of Singapore’s International Agri-Food Week (SIAW). The aim of SIAW is to build a sustainable, global food ecosystem. They seek to highlight innovations in supply chain resilience, urban food systems, and affordable nutrition. The first AFTEA was successful in bringing together growers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and other industry players. The Expo featured over 160 exhibitors hailing from more than 20 countries divided into regional pavilions.  Visitor attendance topped 6,000 people from 66 different countries.

Canobi was proud to be invited specifically to be part of the Canadian delegation to AFTEA. The delegation included Canobi’s CEO Robin Vincent as well as six other Canadian agritech entrepreneurs. In addition to Canobi’s booth in the Canada Pavilion, Robin had two speaking opportunities. Robin’s first talk, ‘Ultra-High Density Food Production‘, was part of the sandbox ‘Sustainable Urban Agriculture Forum.’ The following day, Robin spoke about ‘Canobi’s Advanced Monitoring and Automation Technologies’. Canobi was grateful to be acknowledged for our leadership role in advancing Canadian controlled environment agriculture (CEA) technology.

Canobi was not only honoured to be invited to participate, but also thrilled to see such international attendance and collaboration. Recent increases in the effects of climate change as well as the global pandemic, have spotlighted issues in food insecurity. We believe that advances in technology will be essential to feeding Canada and the world. Local, mid-sized indoor farms will soon provide everyone access to whole foods, grown without pesticides or herbicides. These farms will strengthen local economies as well as the food chain, by creating jobs and building communities. Expos such as AFTEA and other trade shows provide essential opportunities for collaboration, investment, and education. Canobi has had the privilege to travel across the globe to a variety of these events in recent years. From AFTEA in Singapore, to AgraME in Dubai, and VertiFarm in Dortmund, Germany, Canobi is making connections and establishing partnerships.  We believe that collaboration fuels innovation, and we cannot wait to see what incredible new technologies will drive the future of the controlled environment agriculture industry.
