Canobi has always been proud of our leadership in the Canadian Vertical Farming industry. In July of 2023, two of Canobi’s key team members took a new step on that path. We are pleased to announce that Canobi CEO Robin Vincent and COO Catherine Borelly have both joined the Board of Directors of the North American Chapter of the Association for Vertical Farming (AVF).
The AVF is a global, non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating international exchange and cooperation with the goal of accelerating the development of Vertical Farming. The North American chapter was incorporated in Canada as a not-for-profit in June of 2021. One of the goals of the AVF is to educate growers and the public about the ecologically sustainable nature of indoor growing. To this end, they conduct and publish research on vertical farming, as well as offering training and education through their Vertical Farming Academy. The AVF also offers financial and material support for universities or other research institutions carrying out projects related to vertical farming.
Robin will be taking on two positions with the AVF. He will be serving on the Board of Directors as the Director of Innovation, and he will be the Director of the Advisory Board. Robin is excited to bring his background in innovation and entrepreneurship to the AVF. His goal, whether at the AVF or with Canobi, has always been to move the industry toward sustainability and ecological responsibility. He hopes to use his position to “put programs in place to support the cooperation and vital research that will take vertical farming where it needs to go: to a sustainable future.”
Catherine will be taking on the role of Executive Director of the Board for the AVF North American chapter. Her previous executive positions in municipal and federal government organizations and her integral role at Canobi make Catherine an excellent choice for this position. She looks forward to helping advance the vertical farming industry through the opportunities and contributions of the AVF.
